Ranjangaon Ganpati Mandir

Ranjangaon Ganpati is one among the Ashtavinayak. The temple was built in between 9th & 10th century. It is believed that the place where Lord Shiva invoked Lord Ganesha & defeated Tripurasura is Ranjangaon , prior to which it had the name of Manipur. Main temple looks like it was built from Peshwa’s period.

Temple facing east has huge & beautiful entrance gate; Nagarkhana is situated above the entrance gate. Madhavrao Peshave made the room in basement for keeping murti.  The murti is donated and inaugurated by local goldsmith of Ranjangaon. The Ganesha idol has 10 trunks and 20 hands. Ranjangaon Ganpati is also named as ‘Mahotkat’. Later this temple is renovated by Sardar Kibe of Indur. The form/deity of the temple’s idol which is called Mahaganapati is believed to be so powerful that the locals do not bring home idols of Ganapati at all. Same thing is done during the Ganesh Chaturthi festival as well in other parts of Maharashtra.
