Marleshwar

Marleshwar is a beautiful place located at Sangameshwar subdivision of Ratnagiri district in Maharashtra. Marleshwar is also known for the Cave God Mahadev Temple which is also called Marleshwar Temple. Devotees can handle venomous snakes here. Dhareshwar is a waterfall on the Bav river which is another tourist attraction of Marleshwar & quite nearby to the temple. The waterfall is always running even during the summers & in rainy season it’s a pure heaven to visit. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, Marleshwar.  It is believed that the temple was built by Lord Parashuram. It is called as Trimbakeshwar of Kokan region. The shrine is most famous for the cobras which are believed to live here with the shivaling and to date have not harmed anyone.

Often regarded as the most picturesque Shiva temples, its just 75km away from one of the most famous beach temples, Ganapatiphule. During the month of summer, cobras come out of the cave temple and comfortably move around although they say that till date, they have not harmed a single devotee till date. There are also good hotels nearby where you can take your accommodation. There are around 100-130 stairs and during this climbing you will come across a lot of shops where u can enjoy solkadi, nimbu pani and chhachh.

How to reach here:

Marleshwar is in kokan region. First if we are travelling by train then have to reach Ratnagiri. From Ratnagiri railway station to Marleshwar distance is 35 km. and from Sangameshwar to Marleshwar distance is 30 km. From Ratnagiri railway station, we have to take St for Devrukh and from Devrukh by car or autorickshaw to reach Marleshwar.

If want to go by road from Mumbai – Marleshwar , the distance is 336km.
