Igatpuri Hill Station

IGATPURI hill station is amongst the most visited hill stations of Maharashtra and that too for a reason. Igatpuri hill station boasts of the largest Vipassana meditation center while its cool air amidst the lush greenaries may separate you from the chaos of the bustling city which makes it a major stress buster. Also it goes without saying, Igatpuri is the primary center for hiking and trekking activities while many a times you may find some shooting scenes too because of the beauty of the hill station. Ashika waterfalls, Camel Valley, Vaitarna Dam, Arthur Lake, Tringalwadi fort are some of its major attractions.

Igatpuri hill station is situated in the Nashik district;  is the most popular hill stations in India.  Igatpuri hill station is known for the Vipassana international academy; where one can learn Vipassana, an ancient form of meditation. Igatpuri hill station is surrounded by the highest peaks of the Western Ghats. Some places near Igatpuri are considered to be a heavenly place for the trekkers, i.e. Kalsubai, Bhandardara, Ratangad, etc. Most of the Indian movie outdoor scenes especially the songs are shot here. Igatpuri is famous for its scenic beauty and  foods like Vada pav and Idli.Igatpuri is considered as one of the best hill stations to visit during the monsoons. It is one of the major railway stations in the country. 
Dhammagiri is the international largest center for Vipassana. The major places of attractions are the Bhatsa river valley, Kalsubai peak, Arthur Lake, and the Amruteshwar temple. The Bhatsa River valley is located at a place known as the Thal Ghat.;  is filled with lush green vegetation and majestic rocks that are formed by the river flowing through it. The Kalsubai peak is the highest peak among the mountain ranges there located at a distance of 35 kilometers from Igatpuri hill station. The Arthur lake is another significant place of attraction located a few kilometers away from Igatpuri which is formed by the waters of two rivers namely Pravara and Bhandardara. The Amruteshwar temple is a temple of Lord Shiva built in the 11th century located very close to Igatpuri hill station.
The Best time to visit Igatpuri hill station is winter. The temperature is cool in the month of November, December, January, February, and March. It is the best time for trekkers also.  Igatpuri is situated at an elevation of 600 meters. As it is not so high, Igatpuri experiences a mixed type of climate. Igatpuri experiences heavy rainfall during June, July, August, and September months.  The average temperature is in the range of 18°C to 25°C in winter. In summer the temperature goes higher from the range of 28°C to 38°C but the nights are cooler in summer.  It is a picture-perfect tourism destination.
How to Reach Igatpuri :
By Road Igatpuri is at 126km from Mumbai and 245km from Pune.  It is connected with all neighboring cities by Maharashtra S.T.buses.  A private tourist bus service from Mumbai to Kasara is also available. To Reach Igatpuri from Mumbai use the eastern express highway to reach Thane. From Thane head towards Bhiwandi – Padgha – Asangaon – Shahapur – Khardi – Kasara Budruk – Igatpuri. And from Pune also have to reach till Thane then one can go Igatpuri using same way as mentioned by Mumbai to Igatpuri. 
From Nashik to Igatpuri by road we can go by Vilholi – Gondedumala – Khambale – Ghoti Budruk – Take – Igatpuri.
