Dhakleshwar Mahadeo Mandir , Mumbai

In the vibrant spiritual hub of Mahalaxmi there silently exists one of the oldest temples of the city – the Dhakleshwar Mahadeo Mandir. Overlooking the Arabian Sea, the Dhakleshwar Mahadeo Temple stands on an elevated terrace close to the renowned Mahalaxmi Temple. The shrine is named after its founder, Dadaji Dhakji and is believed to be more than 200 years old.
The architecture of the temple is primeval and it is divided into chambers. The first chamber is dedicated to Lord Ganesha and second to Goddess Rameshwari. The central one is devoted to Lord Shiva and the deity of Lord Harinaryan along with Goddess Mahalaxmi is housed in the fourth chamber. The last chamber has the divine images of Vinayakaditya, Jaya and Vijaya. Unlike many city temples Dhakleshwar is not cramped up and has a big porch that has a sacred statue of Nandi, the bull and a minaret at the entrance of the temple.
Nearest station : Mahalaxmi railway station. From here buses and taxis are available for Mahalaxmi Temple.
