Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve- Maharashtra
Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve is one of the finest & largest National Parks in Maharashtra. It is Spread over an area of 625.40 sq. kms. Comprising of the Tadoba National Park and Andhari wildlife sanctuary spread over an area of 116.55 sq.kms. and 508.85 sq.kms respectively. ‘Taru’ the name of the local tribal god , and ‘Andhari’ the River flowing through the forest – gives the sanctuary it’s name viz- Tadoba – Andhari Tiger Reserve. In the year 1955, Tadoba National Parkand Andhari Wildlife Sanctuarywere merged together into one forest reserve. Today, Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve is one of India’s 43 Tiger reserves, collaborating in the restoration of wild Tigers in its vicinity.
The name of the sanctuary conveys that it is a fine habital for the wild cat viz tiger.Other Predators include leopard a shyanimal and wild dongs found in packs and is also known as the whistling hunter. Also found are the large herds of herbivoro chital or spotted deer, sambar, barking deer, fleet footed chowsingha,nilgai etc.
The forest flora represents the southern tropical deadious forest and is dominated by sevaral speces of birds, spiders, The Bamboo(Grass Foliage), Saag (Teak),Moha(Aojun), Tender, Beheda,Black Currant (Jambhul), Savari.
The forest was declared as a Tiger Reserve in 1995 under the wildlife protection act and is a popular destination for the Tiger Conservationist.

Climatic and other Conditions
Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve receives ample rains during the monsoon months starting from mid June.Major part of this forest is thrived in hilly area; it covers the Chimur Hills, and Andhari sanctuary covers Moharali & Kolsa ranges, so many hillocks, terrains provide shelter to wild animals, since it is considered that this park has a great accessibility & sighting of many wild beasts, wild-lovers from many parts of the country & world arrives here. Being popular gradually for its dense forest area, smooth meadows and deep valleys and moreover to all is the good sight-seeing of tiger despite being low numbers, the park has a great potential & atmosphere to stabilize more numbers of tigers with extending park area
Best Time to Visit
Tadoba national park is open for visitors from 15-Oct to 30-June every season. Despite of this, limited safari is possible from 01-Oct on current booking basis. The best months to visit tadoba national park are from November to February due to very pleasant temperature and there is lot of greenery around .Tadoba national park remains Full-day CLOSED for visitors on every Tuesday. Unlike Bandhavgarh, Kanha national park, Pench national parks, here safari charges are some for Indian and foreigner visitors. Online safari booking is available for tourists.
There is an abundance of mammals in the area, specially large and small herbivores. it is a fine habitat for the wild cat viz tiger.Other Predators include Indian leopards, nilgai, gaur, dhole, small Indian civet, striped hyena, jungle cats, spotted deer, sambar, barking deer, chausingha and chital.
There are various kinds of reptiles such as Indian python, marsh crocodile, common Indian monitor, Indian star tortoise, terrapins, Russel’s viper and Indian cobra.
You can see here the birds like crested treeswift, crested honey buzzard, stone curlew, paradise flycatcher, lesser goldenbacked woodpecker, bronze-winged jacana, warblers, peacock, black-naped blue flycatcher and many more ..

Nearest Airport is Nagpur. It is approximately 200kms from Tadoba .You can take Taxi or bus till Chandrapur or Chimur which is around 140kms from Nagpur.
Nearest Railway Station
Chandpur harbors is the nearest railway station to Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve.It is approximatly 45kms from Tadoba.
Accomodation Facilities
There are various tourist guest houses, rest houses etc available on rent near the park and also inside the park. Dormitories and tents are also available at a minimal costs.
