Shivthar Ghal
Shivthar Ghal is a temple located in the Kasabe Shivtar district of Maharashtra. Shivtharghal – Also known as “Sundarmath” is a cave. Samarth Ramdas dictated “Dasbodh” to Kalyanswami. Samarth Ramdas lived here for about 22 years. It is believed that this is where the first meeting between Shivaji Maharaj and Samarth Ramdas took place.
In 1930, Ghal (Cave) was discovered by Shashank Deo, follower of Ramdas Swami. In 1950, Samarath Seva Mandal was formed and Ghal with surrounding area was renovated. Actual cave is under waterfall. Shivtharghal is located in Varandha Ghat in the Sahyadris on the Bhor-Mahad road. You can visit shivtharghal any time but the best time to visit is in monsoon because of its cozy environment. In monsoon, you can see a huge massive waterfall falling right in front of the cave though it is not accessible to visitors. In peak monsoon, the nature is at its best at Shivthar Ghal.
In Shivatharghal there is idol of Ramdas Swami. There is dining hall ,where at 12.00 pm. to 1.30 pm. we get Bhojan Prasad.
How to go here :
Shivtharghal is around 34 km from Mahad, and 120 KM from Pune. By own or hired car is good option. Some travelling companies also take one day or two day trip here.
