Shani Shingnapur

Shani Shingnapur temple is amongst the top 10 most popular temples of Maharashtra and you will see a continuous inflow of worshippers throughout the year. The temple is located in a small village in Nevasa Taluka, in the Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra.

The presiding god of Shingnapur which is known as the Shri Shaneswara or Lord Shanidev is regarded as the personification of planet Saturn and is highly respected, & worshipped by the followers with sincere reverence and devotion. It is Jagrut devasthan , means Shani Dev is present here always. People come here from different parts of the world to take the blessings of Lord Shani. The deity who is in black stone will leave you spell bound. Also for a fact at this place, no temple structure houses the Shanidev while there is only a simple platform on which stands tall the swayambhu idol, in black stone. Also unlike other piligrimage destinations where people are not allowed to do pooja, here the visitors/worshippers can do puja and do their ritual themselves. Another interesting aspect of this village is, no house in this entire village has door frames or locks. They say they don’t need it either as the village is crime free and is strongly protected by the God himself because of which no crimes have ever been recorded in this village!
