Ozar (Ashtavinayaka)

Ozar temple which is also popularly called as the Vigneshwara Temple or Vighnahar Ganapati Temple of Ozar is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha, who is regarded as the god of wisdom. Also for a fact this temple is one of the Ashtavinayaka , which are the eight revered shrines of Ganapati in Maharashtra. It is in Junner Taluka of Pune District. Vighnahar means one who har(Finish) the vighna (Problem) , which goes away from this Ganapati ; so called as Vighnahar. Here idol of Ganapati is studded with rich and semi-precious stones. Mandir opens everyday at 5.00 am. till 11.00 pm. Maha Aarati is at 7.30 pm., Mahaprasad is between 10 am.to a pm. , MidAarati (Madhyanna ) is at 12.00 pm. and Shejarati at 10.00 pm.

There is legendary story that , Rakshas Vagnasur was troubling people who do good karmas, so sages requested Ganapati to solve their problem. And Ganapati soved the problem by killing Vighnasur, so is known as Vighnahar.

The relieved sages Temple is located just off the Pune-Nashik Highway, in the town of Ozhar. It is just 13 to 15 km from Lenyadri & is enclosed on all sides by high stone walls and its pinnacle is made of pure gold. The idol, facing the east, has its trunk towards the left and has rubies in its eyes. There is also a diamond on the forehead and some jewel in the navel. The temple is situated on the banks of river Kukadi where you can do pedal boating. There is a market where different kind of ganesh idols are also available.   One can stay in Bhaktaniwas, there are 4 lodges some are AC. and some Non-AC. according to our budget.  In mandir till 2.0 pm. we get Prasad.

How to reach here:

From Pune it is 85 km., from Narayangaon it is only 9 km. away.  From Pune we can get hired car for here.
